At Quarry Hill Family Dental, Dr. Jarrett believes that to be able to provide you with the highest level of dental care, our office needs to take advantage of the benefits modern technology has brought to dentistry. In our office, technology is used to both increase the quality of dentistry being performed and also help make your dental treatment more enjoyable. We do this by using digital intra-oral x-rays, digital panoramic x-rays, intraoral cameras, rotary endodontics, and overhead TVs.
At our office, our goal is not to have the newest piece of equipment; instead, it is to invest in proven technology that provides you with the greatest benefits.
Digital Intraoral and Panoramic X-Rays
In our office, we use both digital x-rays to capture both intraoral and panoramic images. By using digital x-rays instead of film processed x-rays, our team is able to provide better care. Some of the benefits of digital x-rays include:
- Increased image quality compared to film-based x-rays
- Ability to instantly see the x-ray
- Use of x-ray software allows Dr. Jarrett to analyze and adjust images
- Ability to easily display the x-ray for you on any computer monitor
- Lower radiation exposure than film x-rays
- Ease of sending high-quality x-ray images to specialists
These benefits help Dr. Jarrett to detect decay and infections sooner. By receiving treatment at the earliest possible stage, there is a greater likelihood that a smaller filling or less involved treatment will be needed. This maintains the health of your tooth over the long-term and also often means less expensive treatment is needed.
The introduction of rotary handpieces into endodontics has brought a tremendous benefit to both the quality of treatment and the time it takes for a root canal to complete a root canal. Instead of using hand files that often required multiple or one very long appointment, we can now complete a root canal in much less time.
While at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, Dr. Jarrett was trained to use a new rotary endodontic handpiece system by a team of well respected endodontic specialists. This experience allows Dr. Jarrett to perform most root canal treatments right here in our Rochester, MN dental office. By not having to see a specialist, you can get out of pain faster, utilize one of our convenient appointment times, and save money by avoiding specialist fees.
At our office, we want your experience to be as comfortable as possible. To do that we have overhead TVs installed in two of our treatment rooms that allow you to lay back in our comfortable chairs and watch a movie or television show. We have found this to be a great way for you to relax and forget you are even at the dentist while getting your treatment completed.
One of the simplest but most important pieces of technology Dr. Jarrett uses is an intraoral camera. There are many times when it can be difficult to thoroughly explain what our team sees with a certain tooth or area of your mouth when they do an exam. So instead of trying to explain only with words, our team will use an intraoral camera to help show you.
Dr. Jarrett will take a photo or show a live feed of your tooth or mouth so you can see what she sees. By visualizing the problem yourself, you can easily understand why she recommends a certain treatment. It is also very useful in oral hygiene education to show you certain areas to focus on when brushing or flossing, which can help prevent the need for treatment in the future.
